We've got lots of fun lined up for Easter holidays! Pop in for a Strandline Discovery Session, or why not design your own Easter Egg - the best design wins an Animal Adoption! Over the Easter weekend you can also have a go at the The Shark Trust Egg Hunt! We'll also be having a few special visitors on site over the course of the Easter holidays - dates and more info to follow later on our Facebook page!
Wayne Dixon and his dog Koda are walking and picking litter round the UK coasts fundraising for Mind and raising awareness for mental health. We were glad to support them with lunch in our cafe and wish them luck on their journey! You can donate to his cause on his page: http://ow.ly/E8qK30a7pLw
We are now able to offer special Turtle Talks to raise funds for Menai the Turtle and turtle conservation! These Turtle Talks must to be PRE-BOOKED through our admissions by calling 01248 430411. There are limited numbers of places on each talk, and they will only be available for a limited amount of time until Menai is flown on to the Canary Islands to continue her rehabilitation.
These talks are separate from Aquarium Admissions, so if you wish to visit the rest of the aquarium, the entry will be charged at the normal price, however it is not necessary to pay for aquarium admission if you're only coming for a turtle talk.
There is a minimum donation of £5 per adult and £3 per child, and all proceeds will go directly towards Menai's rehabilitation costs and turtle conservation projects!
EXCITING NEWS!! We have now been granted a special license from CITES to offer Turtle Conservation Visits, which will include the opportunity to see ‘Menai' - the rare Olive Ridley Turtle that stranded on the Tan Y Foel beach in November 2016, and is currently being rehabilitated here at Anglesey Sea Zoo.
These Turtle Talks must to be PRE-BOOKED through our admissions by calling 01248 430411. There are limited numbers of places on each talk, and they will only be available for a limited amount of time until Menai is flown on to the Canary Islands to continue her rehabilitation.
Each talk will last about 30 minutes, and there is a minimum donation of £5 per adult and £3 per child. All proceeds will go directly towards Menai's rehabilitation costs and turtle conservation projects. Please note that these Turtle Talks are NOT included in Aquarium admissions, which will still be charged at usual prices and group rates.
Menai The Turtle's buoyancy and diving are improving and she's eating lots! Here she is feeding on squid - she also gets sardines and mackerel every now and again! Sometimes we scatter the food in the tank and let her dive for it herself.
Menai is currently eating more in a week than the whole rest of the aquarium at this time of year! If you'd like to help towards her rehabilitation costs and eventual flights to warmer climates, head over to her crowdfunder page!
Today Joshua, an inspirational 10 year old boy from Ysgol Bro Lleu, presented us with a cheque for an AMAZING £500 for Menai the Turtle. Joshua has been following Menai's story since she was washed up in November, and he was determined to help, organising a number of fundraising events such as the turtle day in school, and a bike ride in a pink tutu!!! We are truly thankful for all Joshuas efforts. His passion for protecting marine life is incredible. Thank you so much Joshua from Menai the Turtle and everyone at Anglesey Sea Zoo!
