Diary - July 2020

NEW ARRIVALS! These Mantis shrimp are still settling in in our quarantine tanks so they're not on display yet, but we can't wait for you to see them!

Good news - the aquarium is now fully open with social distancing markers and a one-way access all the way through, plus hand sanitiser stations along the way! We advise our visitors to wear their own PPE and capacity is still reduced, so please allow for more time to get in and around the aquarium. Our Rockpool Cafe is now doing outdoor service and takeaway! Read more about our safety measures HERE.

We’re excited to announce that the Sea Zoo will reopen this Monday!

We have strictly followed numerous government and industry specific guidelines to ensure the Anglesey Sea zoo is now accredited as ‘Good to go’ through Visit Britain as a Covid 19 safe environment. We are very much looking forward to welcoming visitors here once again this coming week!

Our extra safety measures include:

- ample signage

- a restriction in capacity

- hand sanitiser stations throughout

- staff PPE

- till screens

- a thorough deep cleaning timetable

We are politely requesting that all our visitors assist us in this role by following all Covid 19 safety guidelines themselves and that all adults take full responsibility for ensuring that all children in their care follow our guidelines too.

We’ve had to make some important temporary changes to the tour and the function of our attraction to meet initial reopening guidelines.

To start with we'll have access to just 40% of the Aquarium exhibits through the two areas which offer open spaces and safe one-way access, and we’ll also be offering numerous interactive open air and outdoor activities throughout the day and a take-away service from our popular licensed Rockpool Café.

We’ve put a lot of extra measures in place in order to keep you, our staff and our community safe.

This is a learning curve for all of us so we are asking all our visitors for feedback or suggestions in these early stages of reopening and if you see any areas that you think we can improve on during your visit, as always, we would appreciate your feedback.

We want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of our supporters, our volunteer aquarists, our fundraising wizards, our miniature ambassadors and of course the rest of team for your ongoing support through lockdown and towards our reopening. Without your help we wouldn’t have been able to make it this far and we are grateful now for your help going forward during our initial reopening period and (hopefully) way beyond.

Sadly it’s still not plain sailing from here on for the Sea Zoo.

We have suffered huge losses throughout the lockdown period due to the high outgoing costs essential to ensure the wellbeing of our amazing animals without any income from footfall, so we still very much need your continued support and it is much appreciated.

You can support us either through visiting or in any of the following ways:

  • Donating to our fundraiser HERE
  • Or send a cheque to: Anglesey Sea Zoo, Brynsiencyn, Anglesey LL61 6TQ
  • Adopt a sea creature HERE
  • Become a Season Pass Holder HERE

We’ll be posting more about the measures put in place over the weekend and our funky new social distancing graphics!

We can’t wait to see you all again this coming week and cross fingers for better weather!
