Diary - May 2020

An update on our situation:

First of all, a shout out to all those who have supported us so far in our fundraising quest! We’ve been blown away by the generosity and we’re bowled over by our mini Sea Zoo Ambassadors setting up their own fundraiser campaigns. THANK YOU. Your messages have given us a huge lift in spirits and made us fight even harder.

We'd also like to make everyone aware of the Welsh Governments decision not to provide the emergency funding scheme that has been offered to zoos and aquariums in England. On a plus side, our recent application of Economic Resilience Fund was accepted and will provide a buffer until we find other possible avenues.

Please be assured that every funding opportunity is being explored and we’re hoping that the ministers will review the decision before it’s too late.

Did you know we release 200-300 young lobsters from our hatchery every year to boost the local population?

This 6-month-old released today was, after an initial shock, bold enough to start exploring... 🌊

More on our European lobster breeding programme.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our our YouTube channel for footage on what our animals get up to when there are no visitors around... Plus livestreams every Wednesday!

Our emergency Fundraiser has climbed past 70% of target with over 450 supporters! Thank you all for your fantastic response so far 🌊❤️🦀
